While it has only been a couple of months since we have seen the iPhone 12 lineup come out, the verdict on the devices has been mainly positive. While of course, Apple has made certain compromises, it should not be denied that these are good phones altogether. Heck, the iPhone 12 gives the best value for money when it comes to performance and the price. Now, we look at one of the biggest letdowns of the device. This has to be the missing high-refresh-rate panel. It is 2020 and Apple is still falling behind in this regard. Even budget devices today have these options so it doesn’t make much sense. Even the premium versions of the series, the Pro lineup lacks this technology.
Now though, there is a report on ETNews which discusses a certain leak regarding the displays for the upcoming iPhones in the year 2021.

iPhone 13 Pro To Have 120Hz ProMotion Display?
Now according to the report, they claim that Apple has reached out to Samsung and LG for their high-refresh-rate OLED panels for the upcoming devices. But sadly, in typical Apple fashion, there is something off here too. According to them, the company would only be adding 120Hz support on the Pro iPhones. The simple ones would be capped at 60Hz. By the latter half of the year 2021, this should be considered a crime. That is why the basic phones would be equipped with LTPS displays. Meanwhile, iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max would be outfitted with an LTPO-TFT panel. This would help in being more power-efficient.
We know that iPhones aren’t the best when it comes to endurance. While the integration works, there is something about raw hardware that you just need sometimes. To counter this, they would be using an LTPO panel. This has its perks but always hinders the pixel density. Now, these are all just speculations. It should be kept in mind that we saw a lot of rumours about the iPhone 12 series getting high-refresh-rate panels but sadly we didn’t. Let’s see if the upcoming year is where Apple lets it go.
